We need a PR senior account executive who can help develop and execute engaging ideas that earn attention from the producers, reporters, bloggers and influencers that are watched, listened to, read and followed by our people. Someone who thrives on pitching great ideas and story angles to media of all types. Someone who collaborates with strategy, creative and social teams to identify and amplify opportunities to tell our clients’ stories. Someone who pays attention to the details because the details matter.

You’ll work across a variety of categories from outdoor cooking to restaurants to CPG. (Did you hear about the energy drink we created? Or The Good Idea Fair we created last month for our team to share their ideas with a panel of ridiculously talented and successful judges?)

We are looking for non-traditional thinkers. Employees who succeed at The Variable come up with brilliant strategies and campaigns one day and breakthrough product development ideas the next. You need to be the self-starting, strategic-thinking, entrepreneurial type. You need to be funny and engaging and hard working and willing to pitch in on whatever crazy opportunity pops up next. YOU MUST

  • Help develop strategic plans and help flawlessly execute them, including the development of pitches, pitch materials, media training for spokespeople, and interview coordination.
  • Drive efforts that secure relevant earned media for consumer brands.
  • Monitor and identify relevant real-time opportunities for PR consideration.
  • Be detail oriented and highly organized.
  • Ensure work is on brief, on budget and on time.
  • Be a strong team player who collaborates  well with the broader team.
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of the overall media landscape.
  • Embody the values of The Variable while maintaining a positive attitude and dedication.
  • Have an interest outside of PR that you are just as passionate about as PR. (We are firm believers in work/life balance … we need to know you love something else).

YOU HAVE

  • 4-5 years of agency experience and a track record of generating earned media for consumer brands with and without new product launches.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with senior-level clients and agency leaders.
  • Knowledge of traditional and digital PR channels.
  • The motivation to always deliver the best work without micromanagement.
  • The coveted skills of organization, detail-orientation and multi-tasking-ation.
