The Variable is searching for rock star Controller than can handle all of the linear accounting
responsibilities above, while thriving in a fast-paced, highly creative environment filled with non-linear

You Must

  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Oversee all operations of the accounting department
  • Work with our Business Operations team to refine our cross-functional billing processes
  • Produce monthly financial reports for the leadership team
  • Manage and maintain the accounting systems that hold financial records
  • Ensure accuracy of our company’s reported financials
  • Ensure our reporting complies with accounting principles and reporting standards
  • Manage the cash flow through company bank accounts, reconcile monthly and provide reporting
    on bank account status to Business Operations team
  • Ensure accounts receivable are collected promptly
  • Set up all new vendors in our accounting system
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll
  • Coordinate and oversee all audit and tax activities, ensuring all activities are compliant with
    requirements for state, local and federal government reporting
  • Manage relationships with our banking partners
  • Develop and maintain business policies

You Have

  • Accounting degree required; master’s degree preferred
  • CPA preferred
  • At least 7+ years of experience
  • Experience with the Workamajig system is preferred
  • A fundamental understanding of the advertising agency business model and how the accounting
    function supports and integrates into the agency process
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with agency leaders
  • The motivation to always deliver the best work
  • The ability to lead an accounting team
  • A track record of being awesomely awesome (if your colleagues will cry when you resign, that’s a
    good indicator)
